All.Can is proud to have supported the development of a newly published Lancet Oncology article, “A deliverable national cancer control plan for the UK: lessons from abroad and the need for discipline at home.”
Led by Professor Mark Lawler and co-authored by Cary Adams and Yannik Romero, of UICC, as well as Pat Price and Sarah Quinlan of Radiotherapy UK, and Eduardo Pisani of All.Can International, the paper sets out key recommendations to strengthen the UK’s national approach to cancer care. Among these is a proposal to grant patients a legal right to begin treatment within two months of an urgent referral.
Now available in The Lancet Oncology and featured by The Guardian, the article underscores that “a focus on reducing waste and increasing efficiency would be welcome. Efficiency in cancer care is essential for improving patient outcomes and experience, optimising resource utilisation, and ensuring healthcare system performance.” These principles directly reflect All.Can’s ongoing work and the insights presented in the Action Guide for Efficient Cancer Care, which provides practical strategies for aligning policies, data systems and strategies to deliver more person-centred and efficient care.
“International evidence shows that strong cancer plans, supported by legal rights, ensure patients have guaranteed access to timely, high-quality care. This protection promotes early treatment, reduces inequalities and ultimately improves health outcomes,” said Eduardo Pisani, CEO of All.Can International.
All.Can remains committed to supporting the implementation of efficient, data-driven, and accountable cancer care systems worldwide, ensuring that resources are used where they make the greatest difference to patients.
