The International Brain Tumour Alliance (IBTA) has published its official report summarizing the proceedings and outcomes of the Sixth Biennial World Summit of Brain Tumour Patient Advocates, held in Rome, Italy. 

The comprehensive 58-page document outlines key discussions, clinical updates, and advocacy strategies formulated by 108 international patient organisation representatives across 34 countries. 

The biennial summit serves as a global forum to align patient advocacy with current clinical research and oncology infrastructure. Led by Kathy Oliver, Chair and Co-Director of the IBTA, the program focused on translating complex scientific developments into actionable patient-centric strategies. Key thematic areas detailed in the report include: 

  • Clinical and Therapeutic Progress: Recent updates in neuro-oncological treatment modalities, including advancements in neurosurgery, targeted radiotherapy, and novel systemic therapies. 
  • Technology and Diagnostics: The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in neuro-imaging and the expanding role of genomic testing in precision medicine. 
  • Healthcare Equity: Collaborative frameworks designed to address international disparities in treatment access and patient care pathways.
