All.Can Spain is happy to share that, after thorough work giving voice to the latest EU udpdated recommendations on cancer screening, the NHS is now moving forward with its implementation .
While it is still in the public consultation period until April 4th, yesterday was published the legislative project to update its common services portfolio, extending colorectal cancer stratification up to 74 years, in line with EU’s recommendation.
Although this is not yet final, we are encouraged that it is under consideration and hope it will be fully accomplished.
In 2022, the Council of the EU shared a new Recommendation on cancer screening, aiming to enhance cancer screening and ensure greater access to screening programs.
On this sense, regarding colorectal cancer, a quantitative faecal immunochemical testing (FIT) was considered the preferred screening test for referring individuals for follow-up colonoscopy between 50 and 74 years old.
